I teach instrumental music (band) near an impoverished rural area. I am in my 8th year of teaching overall and in my 2nd year at this school. The school is 99% free and reduced lunch. Despite the odds, my students have overcome many challenges to help our school become one of the top academic high schools in our state. We have received the 2008 Blue Ribbon Award of Excellence, named “Among the Best High Schools in the Nation (U.S. News and World Report), Palmetto Gold Award, and named a Red Carpet School!

About my class
