I work in an elementary school in an urban district with over 600 students. Most of my students receive free lunch because they come from poverty and single parent homes. Besides economic challenges many of my students also face numerous learning disabilities. We educate many students who are developmentally delayed and also many students with autism, down syndrome, speech/language impairments, intellectual disability, traumatic brain injury, ODD, cerebral palsy, anxiety and mood disorders. These students have IEPS and require various types of accommodations and modifications. Within our special education classes, each child's disability is unique and requires differentiated learning activities.
