Simply put, students have a hard time focusing in the classroom, and when movement and positive behavior supports are added to their instruction, they are more successful! I have been seeing great improvement in my students when they have a fidget toy to play with, flexible seating, and rewards when goals are reached. Now that we have COVID restrictions, I cannot allow my students to share these materials with each other!
I am asking for enough chairs for my Special Education students to sit on during our small group lessons, which will help them get the movement they crave in order to help them focus. I am also asking for enough manipulatives so that each kid has his own, and does not need to share with others (possibly sharing germs in the process)!
