Scholastic News will be used to teach students to love nonfiction. They will learn all about how text features help them understand information in an article, in addition to finding text evidence. Students will work on 2 of the most challenging TEKS, summary and main idea. Scholastic News will be used for face to face classroom instruction and virtual learning at home. Students who struggle with reading can first listen to text being read aloud and then read independently to increase their reading fluency. ESL students will be able to work on vocabulary through the mini glossary in Scholastic News.
