I teach grades 6, 7, and 8 in a suburban area middle school. We are a public school without title one funding, and there are needs here for students to encourage engagement and participation. My students love hands-on activities and working with the world around them. This is a "related arts" class, so they like this time to be active. This class is STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) based, and real world based. Students range from 11-14 on average. They come from a variety of backgrounds and range in diversity.
