My students are bright magnet students that come to class, have the drive and the enthusiasm to be innovative young mathematicians. They all work in groups together during their assignment, but would prefer to have manipulatives or technology to help them solve math problems. Working together will help them become engaged with each other culturally and emotionally by building relationships in how to work with each other by agreeing and disagreeing working on math problems. The goal is for students to have hands on practice and discover the math problems themselves and/or in groups in how to solve math problems. They continue to be motivated working on their math assignments when they are spoken to in a positive way.
