My classroom consists of 7-8 year old boys and girls from middle class and poverty stricken neighborhoods. They are excited about learning and are always looking for new ways to learn. Although most of them are not fluent readers, they enjoy being read to and will try to read some of the time. Building their confidence is a job that I love to have. My school is located in a middle class neighborhood. The school climate is very positive and we encourage parental involvement. There are limited resources for the large number of students who attend school here. Most of the time teachers borrow from one another and recycle materials from previous years.
