My students are 10th and 11th grade special needs students who are reading at a 5th and 6th grade level. Though these students are reading at such a low level, they are still required to pass 5 regents exams and to earn 44 credits in order to qualify for graduation. Despite the fact that my students are delayed academically, they are very well behaved and respectful.
My school is a Title I, 6-12 school located in East New York, Brooklyn. Though the school is located in a low-income neighborhood, where resources and materials to effectively serve the students are very scarce, we try our very best to educate students in the best way.
