I am fortunate enough to teach amazing students with various needs in my high school learning center. The majority of my students have multiple disabilities and difficulty with functional communication. Having used iPads in the past, various apps support increased independence in the following areas: sight words, scheduling, math skills, writing, communication, behavior, and many other skills. Our school supports the use of technology for all students, and access to iPads in inclusive settings allows the students with special needs to participate with peers. Following high school, many of the students will transition to programs that will use iPads on a daily basis. My goal is to provide access to iPads now so they are independent navigating them as adults.
