I strive for my classroom to be a safe space for all students, so that everyone feels ready to learn, as well as a place student cannot only grow academically but emotionally as well. One of the ways I attempt to do this is to consistently provide all the materials we could ever need to complete our activities, and through picture books that act as windows to worlds that would be otherwise inaccessible. The students at my school generally come from families with low socioeconomic status, and have very limited resources. These challenges should not affect the quality of their education. They are my reason for teaching.
