Students in my school celebrate diversity by studying various ethnic groups and traditions. This year, the entire school will be focusing on the cultures, traditions, and people of Africa. Each of my art classes will be creating and displaying artwork based on a country in Africa. This year, as a culminating project, the students in my school will be performing "Lion King, Jr."
Your generous donation will help my art students create the scenery and props that will make our play come alive!
They will be using the canvas drop cloths and paints to create background scenery and banners. They will also create a giant "Tree of Life" featured in every scene. They will be using cement as a support base and plastic poultry mesh to create a tree trunk, covered in butcher paper. Dowels will be used to create the supports for leaves, which we will make using green construction paper. Students will also create giant animal puppets, held by the long square dowels. Student artwork will be attached to the walls and ceilings using the double sided tape, creating a jungle atmosphere throughout the school.
