I am asking for six round tables and twenty-six chairs. Having new tables and chairs will give my class a great opportunity to work in small groups. Working in small groups can help to facilitate discussions that may not occur with more students present. Sitting in small groups gives kids a chance to share and learn from one another and still have enough space. This will also help to give each student enough space to complete their work while still being able to discuss with the group if they need to.
Currently, I have 6 or 7 students at a table which doesn't give students much space to work. Sometimes their work gets confused with other students' work and gets lost. Also, the large group can be difficult for small group work or discussions because of the space limitations and number of students. Having more smaller tables where kids can sit in groups of 4 would be beneficial to both social skills and academic achievement.
