My students are eager learners. They come to school everyday ready to learn. Unfortunately, most of them have not received fundamental learning. As a result, they stagger behind and try to "catch up." They love technology and oftentimes, teach me a thing or two about the latest "apps." I teach Language Arts and Social Studies to 47 students. My school is a "state-run" school where monitoring and curriculum changes are constant. Student performance is very essential. The students constantly struggle to meet standard benchmarks. My school is trying very hard by initiating incentives for all of our students to succeed via rewards for all forms of academic growth as well as responsibility, respect, and organization. However, the reality is that our students need more advanced ways to learn and grow successfully. Teachers work hard to help students achieve. For example, at least twice a week my grade level team holds lunch classes with some of our students to reteach skills.
