My school is in a very ethnically diverse neighborhood in the city of Boston. My classroom is a sub separate Special Education room with children who have intellectual impairments. I work with the youngest students of this strand and they are a true delight. They are kind, hard working and eager to participate. I feel like a very lucky teacher to have these young students in my class. As a group we work on social, academic and life skills. While I am fortunate to have this group, I do not have many of the supplies that would be helpful to teach this population of children. I work very hard to make creative activities and provide useful social and life experiences but I really need more in order to most effectively help my students reach their personal, academic and life goals.
