As the social and emotional learning coordinator, I have the opportunity to push into every class and teach character development and emotional regulation lessons. I also oversee a calm down room, for our students who struggle the most with emotional regulation. This is a scheduled break for students in a safe and quiet place, with sensory tools to help them get to a better place to be able to learn.
We know that without explicit instruction in social and emotional learning, these kids will most likely grow up and repeat what has been modeled for them. I would like to have the tools to teach emotional regulation to a school of students coming from low income homes.
Your contribution will help to purchase picture books for character social and emotional development lessons, supplies for follow up social and emotion learning activities, and sensory tools to assist students in emotional regulation.
This project will impact every student in profound ways, and make the learning environment calm and engaging for all students.
Thank you for considering this project!
