Our school is an International Baccalaureate magnet high school of over 2,600 students. We have a highly diversified student population with no ethnic majority. We do have a sizable population of ELL students (about 6%), and approximately 34% of our student qualify for the free or reduced lunch program. Students come from all over our district (we are in the top 20 in the country) to attend our school, but we do have a 50% base population from the surrounding geographical area.
We have a large arts program, but also a large STEM program. Over 40% of the student population take AP classes. Advanced students typically take 4-7 AP courses in their last two years of high school. It is not unusual to see over 90% of the students take the SAT during their last two years of high school. We have the second highest SAT and ACT scores of any high school in our state. It is not usual to see several students earning significant college scholarships or a full ride to college.
