I have twenty first grade students. I have eleven girls and nine boys. They are learning to become little students. I have a range of students from readers to non readers. Our day is filled with reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and art. My students like to sing and dance. They are learning to tell jokes, but only the premise; they don't quite get the punch line yet. Our school was built in the 70's. It is very dated. It was built as an open school concept. Many classrooms don't have doors. We have a great view of the water.
