I love my students! They are a wonderful group of kids who live in a low-income area. Some are homeless, some are in unstable homes, and many don't have the basics to help them thrive. Unfortunately, they have been negatively affected by the violence and unrest in our area. They don't completely understand it, and I feel that my job is to not only teach them academic skills, but to love them and help them feel safe and have FUN learning! Books are a welcome distraction for them. It is truly an honor to watch and listen to them read and grow. However, many aren't exposed to books at home, so they have little experience with them.

About my class
