My students are talented, vocal, sensitive, hard working, and utterly hilarious. However, to minimize my students into five adjectives does not serve them justice. Each one of my students is aware of the systemic issues that plague the community in which they live. As a result, we seek to have bi-weekly discussions known as social justice summits in which my students are given the opportunity to speak candidly about the injustices they have experienced and how to use education as a force to initiate a social and political transformation.
