My classroom is made up of an exciting and diverse group of inner-city students all around 13 years of age. They all bring different experiences to the classroom. I try to to create an atmosphere where all of my students feel safe to express their mathematical background and ideas. I find that in a 90 minute class, I sometimes need to change the structure of our class and differentiate to keep them engaged. Even though they are expected to be grown up in today's society, they are still children and look for acceptance and understanding. Within this environment they enjoy creating and taking pride in their work. That is something I never get tired of. I continue to enjoy the diversity and that challenges that each of my students bring.
