I work in a school where most of the students are English language learners and come from low income homes. Because of this, they are often academically behind and lack essential skills they need to be successful in first grade. They have to work twice as hard to catch up so they are ready for second grade. However they are very enthusiastic when it comes to the use of the SmartBoard and computers. They stay engaged and focused. The more engaged they are, the more they learn.
