"Why are you looking at me like that?" he cried. "Yes, I let him get away with it. He's one of my best villains. How could I kill him off? It's the same in real life. Notorious murderers get off scot-free and live happily all their lives, while good people die--sometimes the very best people. That's the way of the world, Why should it be different in books?" ~this is the very quote that made me want to teach the novel Inkheart. I teach an energetic group of 6th graders in Illinois! My classroom consists of 34 students with an array of learning levels. I have 11 English as a Second Language learners who receive services on a daily basis. I also have 3 students who are receiving Special Education services. For most of these students, they read under a 6th grade level, and have low comprehension and fluency skills.
