Currently, I have folding chairs in my room for my choirs, but my general music students, over 100 students K-4, have to sit on the floor to write. The classroom is designed to sit or stand and sing, but music is so much more than singing a song. In my music class, we learn how to read and write music as well as to sing and play. Just like a foreign language or even the English language, learning how to read and write are basic fundamental and essential to learning and growth in young minds. I would like to have my students off the floor to elevate their music to new heights. The ability to have choir chairs with desk will serve two major functions for me. It will allow me to maintain a choir while providing learning surfaces to the rest of the school.
