Our P.S. 89 Panther students would benefit from your help because we are a title 1 school located within a New York City Housing Project Development, where many of our students live, and over 95% of our students qualify for free/ reduced price lunch. Coming from low-income families, the children in our class rarely have the opportunity to experience life outside of their neighborhood and school, so a trip like this will be a chance for them to learn outside of the classroom.
Our school has three academies within the elementary/ middle school. One of the major academies for the middle school is called the Big Picture Learning Academy. Being in a Big Picture Learning Classroom is different from traditional learning because it focuses on the student as an individual and finds ways to help student's master common core standards through real-world situations, student choice, and engaging experiences.
