I am a 4th grade bilingual teacher in a Title I school. Out of my 21 students, at least 19 are economically disadvantaged. I am very proud of them because despite their current difficulties, they strive to achieve higher, to meet their parents' and teachers' expectations, which they daily do.
Last year about 75% of my students got commended performance in math, about 40% in reading and 30% in writing. My challenge this year is to have at least 50% commended in reading and in writing, but I have a much bigger challenge than that, do you want to know about it?
