My first graders love school! They come to class ready to learn and ask lots of questions! Their curiosity about life baffles me; they enjoy read-aloud stories and non-fiction books. Their favorite day of the week is Wednesday; library visit day! Every Wednesday we visit the school library, where the librarian does a puppet show and the students pick out new books for the week.
My school is located in a primarily migrant community where families move from state to state in search for job during different seasons. Many of my students come from homes that are low on the socioeconomic scale. We are a Title I school where 95% of the families are considered economically needy and 76% are non-English speaking. The teachers at my school are passionate, and invest more than time in their students. the staff show real love and genuine care for their students and do everything that they can to help the students succeed.
