Being able to live stream our House Cup events will bring back a sense of normalcy to our students. At our school, we usually run many events related to our House Cup system (think Harry Potter!) to help students feel more connected to our school community and to promote school spirit. This has been a challenge in COVID times because we must adhere to social distancing and gathering size constraints in order to keep everyone safe.
The House Cup and student participation in it are extremely important to our school because we are a small school. We can't host our own sports teams, nor can we offer many after-school clubs because we are a magnet with over 31 sending districts that we can't hope to coordinate busing for all of those towns. So, the House Cup is our way to connect students to our school in ways beyond their daily academics.
Last year, we had an employee who graciously loaned us their switchboard and it enabled us to develop an entire GPA News team that broadcast the House Cup events out to classrooms. Sadly, that employee has moved and we no longer have access to his technology.
We would LOVE to keep our GPA News team alive and be able to send out House Cup events for the whole school to enjoy.
