Flexible seating in a classroom provides students with options to support different learning styles. It also gives students choice, and supports an environment where students are less sedentary - one of the greatest detriments to health.
Currently, my students have 28 traditional desks, one group work table, an old couch and two black office leather chairs - I am trying to reduce the number of desks by half. Why? There are some students that work better at individual desks, but many need more of a "coffee shop" environment to focus.
So, the high top tables I have selected allow for students to sit in groups of 4 to get their work done. They also allow students to stand if that is how they work better. The chairs I have selected fit either the high tops or my large group work table, that currently has old chairs that are cracking and falling apart. I have brought a couple chairs from home, but it would be great to have nicer chairs for the students to use!
Thank you for reading about my project!
