My students come from many different backgrounds. Many are second language learners from low socioeconomic homes. Some come from monolingual Spanish-speaking homes. Some children live with grandparents, foster parents, or in single parent households. However, my school is an amazing part of our community. It's a haven for learning, literacy, and strong core values. We value education, children and their individual gifts, and especially their growth through academics. To teach at this school is an honor and a gift. These children are lovely, creative, kind, smart, and valuable. Everyday, I am forced to be an observer, a learner, a creative thinker, inventor, scientist, and a nurturer of their development as learners.
