It is difficult for our students to perceive the world through the pages of books or illustrations. My project will bring the world and the universe right before their eyes! The Google expedition set is capable of allowing our children to travel to different places in the world or explore the planets, stars and constellations in the universe.
We can watch a volcanic eruption, see lions in Africa or explore the coliseum in Rome! The virtual reality sets will block out or limit surrounding stimuli that distract our students from learning and present a continuous stream of information about the world. The direct focus on content allows students to isolate information, process ideas, and reduce stimuli. The Google virtual reality expedition kit is a great tool that will help expose my students to different terrain, cultures and parts of the world.
We can virtually go in to space and explore our solar system. When we are learning about the map of the world, we can travel to all seven continents! We can take a trip to the new museum in Athens, Greece and learn about ancient Greek gods. We can go to China and walk across the Great Wall! Utilizing this technology with a special education population has endless applications. Please help me make this virtual reality kit a reality of possibilities!
Thank you!
