Second graders like to work together. When given a choice, most kids like to get out of their seat and move around the room. They get a clipboard and lay on the floor. With floor desks, they can still sit comfortably on the floor, but now they are upright and looking at each other. This will lead to better engagement and cooperative learning. It is a much better stance for developing handwriting and preserving some form of neatness on written work. They can move throughout the classroom and form groups as big or small as needed. What a wonderful option for the child who struggles with sitting in a conventional desk and chair set up!
