I teach at a Title 1 school in Decatur, Georgia. Many of our students do not have anyone to help them at home. Several students do not complete homework because there is not anyone that is willing to help them. Homework provides extra practice on phonics skills. They are not able to get practice at home so I want to provide them it in my classroom. Most students do not have books at home to practice reading. We need more books in our classroom. Having more books will really help. me differentiate my reading instruction. I want my students to receive what they need so they can become READERS.
