Do you remember the excitement of the first day of school? Remember being ready to sit in your own special spot on the carpet, ready to learn? My project goal is to create this same feeling for my group of upcoming second graders. With your help, each student will have a special spot on the classroom carpet during our instructional times such as read alouds, mini-lessons, and most importantly, morning meetings where my students will learn to encourage each other, compliment each other, and build up our character and self-esteem.
Every child will feel like a star and have their own on this brightly-colored carpet! I want all of my students to feel as though they are a part of a community. This classroom rug will serve as a special area where my students can play, learn, and grow together.
