My students need floor cushions to increase our flexible seating options and a new carpet where we can gather together as a class for large group learning activities! Having a large carpet and floor cushions available would make it possible for my students to work in any area of the classroom. They could stretch out to read a book, create a bigger and less-crowded work space during a math activity, or huddle together during group work in ways that my current classroom setup doesn't allow. This could be especially helpful for my more active students who would really benefit from having more space to themselves.
The large carpet would also be useful during our large group times. The carpet that I currently have in my classroom has been well-used for many years, and it's beginning to show some wear and tear. The carpet that I'm requesting is larger and has sectioned off areas for each student that will help prevent the bumping and touching that can happen when there are 20+ kindergartners gathered in one small space.
