All of the students on my caseload have been classified as deaf and hard of hearing. They all wear hearing aids and/or cochlear implants and participate in an auditory-oral environment to learn. The students all demonstrate significant delays in the areas of expressive language, receptive language, pragmatics, and listening skills. The students are often aware of their difficulties and can become dejected if they view an activity as too hard to complete. I am constantly striving to develop engaging and meaningful language-based activities to intrinsically motivate my students; therefore, encourage true learning of skills.
