I have the sweetest class! My class consist of 25 beautiful, loving, kind, and eager to learn 2nd graders. Sadly, 90% of my class are below the poverty line. This affects my students with their school supplies. We waste so much of our valuable learning time searching and borrowing supplies. I spend hundreds of dollars on my classroom every year. With my son being a senior and taking college courses, I'm tapped out.
If every student had 5 pencils per week and a box of crayons in their desk, it would be so helpful.
We also need nonfiction reading materials due to 50% of our reading curriculum is supposed to come from nonfiction.
I love science and believe with a hands on approach (to any curriculum) is beneficial. STEM based learning projects are the way to go!
