My refugee students have yet to read a chapter book (novel) and are getting ready to develop a relationship American story telling. By reading these novels together we will plant the seeds that will develop into a love of reading. We are starting with realistic fiction in the Girl With 500 Middle Names and then stretching into fantasy with Dinosaurs Before Dark (the first book in the Magic Tree House series).
As early readers in Middle School, reading together is the best way to develop a love of reading. These books sets will give us a common reading experience to learn and grow through.
