All of my children have special needs and receive resource support to directly support their IEP goals and to help them better access the curriculum in their classrooms. My students live in the Watts (South Central - highly impoverished area) part of Los Angeles and attend our Title 1 school. My students enjoy video games, books about animals, playing, watching, or reading about sports, and they absolutely LOVE technology. My students are all exceptional children who struggle to cope with varying learning disabilities such as: Autism, Specific Learning Disability, or Other Health Impairment. Most of my students show up to school everyday, despite varying degrees of difficulties with transportation, living situations (some of my students are homeless), and illness. My students are all eager, willing, and able to learn what the other students in their classes are learning - they just need a little extra support and I believe that having access to technology each day will help them succeed!
