Each student has set specific reading goals that they are working on as readers. These books will be used as check in points to help students monitor their progress in reading. Teachers will use these books daily with students to monitor progress and help celebrate student success in meeting their reading goals. These books will also allow teachers opportunities to see what skills students may still need at a level. Teachers can use that information to help students set new goals for themselves as readers.
The big books will help our youngest and emergent readers gain print concepts and early reading skills with text that is engaging and high interest. These big books will provide our teachers the opportunity to model these skills that match the reading goals that students have set for themselves.
