Having multiple flexible seating options will help students learn to identify the seating style that helps them be most productive and learn best. The scooters will allow us to review and practice decoding and math skills in fun and exciting ways that promote active learning. The spill-proof paint cups will allow students to use paint and liquid watercolor more independently so that they will be able to show their understanding and ideas in creative ways all throughout every day.
A classroom that provides comfort and engagement, will lead to greater student self-reflection, growth, and, ultimately, a greater level of learning. It is important to me that students feel a strong sense of belonging at school, and even more importantly, in the classroom. A learning environment that encourages students to identify how they learn and work best provides fun, active lessons throughout the day, and opportunities to be creative, gives students a sense that they are important, their ideas are important, and the time they spend at school is valuable.
