My students are inner city students who have the desire to achieve more than they are allowed to in the typical Title I school. These students who live in the inner city are often left out of opportunities presented to people living elsewhere. Growing up as a child in the inner city is certainly a challenge. These students are like many other students in inner city, many of them are dealing with tougher challenges than many adults have faced. These students often come with other issues living in low income poverty area.
The Title I school鈥榮 new school motto is: 鈥淯nleashing Our Potential: We鈥檙e Destined for Greatness.鈥 They are eager in helping the students achieve his or her highest potential. It鈥檚 an a uniform school with an enrollment 439, made up of 96% African American, 1% white, 3% Hispanic students. It location is within the Cherry Community, a community where crime, gangs, drugs, still persist at disturbing levels.
