My students come from various ethnic backgrounds, and almost all of the students at W. School are "low-income." Unfortunately, the students that we serve, experience a great deal of discord in their home environments. Many of the parents are young, and have not completed their own education.
Despite the environmental factors that work against our students, they are full of life and in constant search of love. The students are caring and continuously look out for one another. W. School is committed to the success of our underprivileged students, and it is clearly seen upon meeting any staff member in the building. Like many other schools in urban areas, W. School lacks funding for many of the educational tools that accelerate learning. The continued support from donors can truly help W. School improve learning in the 21st century for underprivileged children, and close the achievement gap!
