Having a big open space to think, create, share, and grow aligns with the American Association of School Libraries standards. Our Makerspace is a nice big space for students to create, collaborate, and MAKE! We are nearing the end of our first year with a Makerspace and are reflecting on what we need to make it even better.
Many elementary classrooms have a rug area where students can sit for morning meeting or gather together in smaller groups to collaborate and although our Makerspace is on its way to being amazing, we do really need some more options for flexible seating, "spaces within a space" for students to work, think, and create together.
