In my classroom, I will be using the items to create morning tubs for my students. Morning Tubs offers a fun, playful opportunity for students to explore, create, imagine and communicate. This is a non-threatening way for students to start the day and work with others. Not only will Morning Tubs help reduce long morning routines, but it will also help students start their morning excited about the day.
I am excited to start using Morning Tubs this school year! Morning Tubs will include many hands-on activities for literacy, math connections, exploring and creating, designing, fine motor skills, and building. Using the Reading Dice, Unifix Letter Cubes, Gamewright Rory's Story Cubes, and Bananagrams will help my students with spelling, writing, phonics and sight words. They will become better readers and writers. Many concepts and skills will be taught using these manipulatives. My mathematicians will use the Geoboards, Pentominoes, Wiz Dice, WonderFoam Dominoes, and Cuisenaire rods for math concepts, inquiry and problem solving.
Students will be using Building Flakes, Magnetic Play Tiles 3-D Tiles, K’NEX, TINKERTOY, and Melissa & Doug Lace and Trace Activity to work on fine motor skills, creating and imagining. This is where STEAM will be integrated into our Morning Tubs. Let the creating begin!
Consequently, this will reinforce learning concepts and skills being taught in the classroom. Morning Tubs will encourage collaboration and problem solving. This will also reinforce learning concepts first thing in the morning.
Furthermore, using these engaging tubs first thing in the morning will give my students a jump start on engaging their minds. I am very excited to begin this new concept in my classroom.
