Students need to develop researching skills while building relevant background knowledge to support social studies. NEW! TIME Edge and Scholastic Action magazines will give students an opportunity to read and access interesting texts. Right now, all we can do is black and white photocopies of articles from one text. Bringing in color magazines that kids can flip through always increases engagement and interest.
We currently have a textbook, but bringing current articles will support and enhance their interest as they connect US History to what is happening in their current world. By giving them access to both subscriptions and online material, it would make history and social studies much more exciting.
