I teach at a Title 1 school with a very high poverty rate. At our school 100% of the students are on a free or reduced lunch program. They cannot afford lunch, much less basic school supplies. My students come to me thinking that college is out of their reach, due to being a part of a cycle of poverty that is very hard to break. I am teaching them to dream of a different outcome for their lives that they can control.
