My students love to move around the room with their book bags. They get to choose their own books and keep their own bag the whole year. They show pride and ownership in having their very own book bags. They also learn to take care of their books and bags. In Kindergarten they are learning to read.
Keeping books in their bags provides a safe place to keep their books. It makes them feel special to have their very own bag because most students do not have books at home. Kindergarten reading is developing a love for literacy that will last a lifetime.
