My students are in a self-contained special education class. They range from grades kindergarten - fifth. They enjoy coming to school every day and learning new things.
When they come into the classroom, we have morning meeting and they enjoy shaking each other's hands and greeting each other with good morning. They take great pleasure in learning and using the SMART board to complete different activities. They love to read stories together and interact with the book and read the repeated storyline. In math, my students love to clap and stomp as they count and create different stories to the addition problems we are completing.
I teach in a Title I school and a majority of my students come from low income families. My students' disabilities vary from Developmental Delay to Intellectual Disability- Severe. Some have physical disabilities and are nonverbal or have communication delays. They require different assistive technology to complete different tasks and participate in lessons.
