Full of life and coming from an array of ethnic backgrounds (African American, Pilipino, Cambodian, Vietnamese), my students' personalities only promote the diverse day-to-day experiences. I'm blessed with a group that arrives each day with renewed enthusiasm for the learning ahead and learning styles that consistently compliment those of their peers. The class is about two-thirds male, which can often result in hyperactive situations that stem from engaging with the Smartboard, participating in highly requested math center games, or the favorite "Brain Breaks" that occur in the morning and afternoon. The "personalities" I speak of are spread across a spectrum that command team effort, a student-led environment where assertiveness, rigor, and accountability are demonstrated through communication and a limited dependency on their teacher.
