I am a special education teacher working in a learning center (self contained classroom) for students with disabilities including autism, down syndrome and intellectual disabilities. Teaching social skills is just as important as teaching reading, writing and math in my classroom. My student need to learn how to play games that their typically developing peers pick up at recess. They need to learn to take turns, share and play simple games with peers.
